Happy Colors

I think I tend to lean on the perfectionistic side.
But when I paint, well.
Let's just say it's M.E.S.S.Y.
My slippers are now splashed with yellow from this:

It's a happy yellow, though. So I don't think I mind.
They kinda match the slippers Miss Party put a hole in from carrying around so much when I'm gone.
Have I mentioned she doesn't like it when I'm gone?

In preparation for the upcoming art show, I've made a schedule. (pronounce like the British version here: shheduuahl.) It's very helpful.
Especially when you look at it.
And stick to it.
Except when you can't stick to it because SOMEone forgot their track practice bag at home. ahem.
Or an offer comes in on your mom's house and you have to go sign papers. (!!!)
I guess it's o.k.
Or it's a fabulous day and you are starving and Miss Party has been staring you down for a walk. So you compromise and take a sandwich to the dog park and let her sniff all the grass she wants while you eat and read a book.
Then it's o.k. But I think I shheduuahled that.
Or at least I should have.

I did NOT, however, shheduahl a flare up with Colitis.
Nor did I shheduahl a boatload of meds to take to combat said flare-up, that tend to make me a tiny bit jittery and be up from 4:30 am on today.
Except that, you do get a lot done on your shheduahl.
Sorry, it's fun to say. It makes me think of The Narrator in Winnie the Pooh.

Needless to say, I'm getting some painting done.

  1. ...and some beautiful painting at that! On my shheduahl today I have to work but this weekends shheduahl has some art shheduahled into it and that makes me a very happy girl! Your paintings are wonderful, I had so much fun making my collage backgrounds but only have the one piece finished, I am waiting for inspiration on the other 2. Your show is going to be such a success! t.xoxo

  2. Except from the colitis flair up, you made me smile (BIG SMILE) through this post. I think I definitely need a shheduuahl too!

Did you put "visit Debbie and listen to her incessant yakking" on it?

I think there is a slot open right between floss slipper fluff out of Miss Party's teeth and put odor eaters in track shoes.

And WOOOHOOOO about the house offer. That is a huge, huge blessing in this world and market.

  6. Some days I think every piece of clothing I own has paint spatters on it--but I figure they're a symbol of me letting go and playing, which is always a good thing!

I am visiting from the blog love list at the Land of Lost Luggage--can't wait to see more of your work!

  9. and hey, when you're an artist.....you cannot possibly go without a splash of paint colour on your apparel and hands...don't forget the hands....mine seem to always be spotted with some form of 'gunk' or otherwise!

  10. My husband says it that way too; I think it's the only British version of a word that I don't use...
Your paintings look wonderful Lynn - it seems something good can indeed come from something bad!
I hope you're feeling better soon,
