art Every Day Month. Day 11

Guess which won out in the battle for my attention today? This:

or this:

Well, actually this won out after the movie was done:

We are off to ride bikes and go to the dog park. If I am really lucky I can get a shower in before the volleyball game tonight. We will leave the mess right where it belongs.....

Have a good day, friends,

art Every Day Month. Day 10

Why is it that the days you have set aside to create just FLY by??? I met my friend, Wendy at our favorite place, The Scrapping Lounge  today and we worked on creating fun items to sell at the boutique that is coming up. I had WAAAY bigger expectations to get more done today. Guess I will settle for a few things completed and lots of talking and laughing!

Wendy made this, but I kept it!!

A little decoupage:

Not sure what to do with these two things:

But it will all come together in the next few days....

Have a great day creating!

art Every Day Month. Day 9

Wow! This art every day is quite a challenge!! Most of all, a challenge to get it posted!! I spent a FABulous day with my friend, Wendy and her family on Saturday.  We sat on a field and watched her son play soccer-and score a goal! What a beautiful day.

THEN we got to the creating part!!! We are finally able to see finished product and it is SO exciting! I am looking forward to the boutique we are doing the weekend before Thanksgiving. How much product to set out?? How much looks like enough? How much to have enough to do the boutique the first weekend in December? Wow. Well, we will see, won't we? It will all unfold. And it will be fun!!

Some still in production:

Let's see, that was Saturday. Sunday, I began- are you ready?? I began setting up a shop on ETSY!!!!!!
It's not up quite yet, I will have some Christmas ornaments up soon. Today will be getting those done and photographed.
Think I'm all caught up!
Go ART EVERY DAY MONTH!!!!!!

Art Every Day Month. Day 5

Today's creativity comes in the form of photographs, marking the end of an era. Brenna, who has been her Jr. High football team's water girl served her last game today. It marks the end of three years she has been doing this. Since she is in 8th. grade, she will move onto high school next year. Who knows, maybe she can be her high school's water girl. She sure knows how to do it!

I can't help but feel emotional about this. This school has embraced Brenna and her classmates like nothing I have ever seen. The teachers as well. When I approached the coach with the idea three years ago about Brenna being water girl, he had no problem with it. So, off we went, Brenna and I. Learning to fill bottles, finding the cold water, getting used to the sound of boys cracking each other's skulls, running out to the field when we heard the call for water. Scrambling for water on extra hot days, sometimes Brenna "assisting" with an injury. (Her favorite part.)

The next year, a mom of one of the football players took charge of the water and scooped Brenna right along. They were quite a pair. Running hand in hand, they would fly out to the middle of the field to bring water. They would circle around the team at the end of each game, always together.

This year, a different mom stepped forward to take over the job. (Bless mother's of boys.) Not much taller than Brenna, they would scramble, cheer, and haul water. She watched out for Brenna as much as I did. More, even, when she told Brenna to sit in the shade on a particularly hot game day.

The boys were always polite and fun. "Hey, Brenna!" "Thanks, B." High fives, just sitting on the grass together, signing a card for her at the end of a season.

Brenna was ready each game day. "We're going to WIN!" she says at each and every game. This year, she got to help hand out snacks, (I'm a part of the team, mom. I get a snack, too!") pray for the beginning of a game, and was faithful to give encouragement when the boys came in off the field or got injured. Off she would go when it was half time, hauling her water for "her boys." This year, one of the highlights was the coach's 4 month old son, Conner. Oh, and she sure loved to wear her shirt to school on game days!

We lost today, by two points. It was a game well played, the boys fought hard. Brenna was a little more enamored today by Conner, but she was ready when she heard, "WATER" and came running! Brenna asked me, "Mom, did we win?" "Oh, B. We lost by two points." "No, Mom. I think we won." Me too, Brenna, me too.

Art Every Day Month. Day 4

Bah, Humbug! Who knew creating Christmas dominoes could be so frustrating? When I think of decorations at Christmas time, I think SPARKLE! Red, silver, gold, green. More SPARKLE! (This thanks to my mother, the queen of Christmas.)  I tried the traditional Christmas colors on the dominos, and they just looked washed out, kinda pink. Pink is for Easter. So, I tried some stickles, to add bling and SPARKLE. Huh.

Didn't care for it, so I took off the stamped part and will re-sand and start over.
Then I thought, well, think outside the box. Purple is good. Looks good with gold. Huh.

I am so far from finished with these!! I guess dominoes don't naturally SPARKLE, and I will have to add that in as I go. O.K. I can live with that.
I did like the angels, and I do have a vision for the "Merry and Bright" domino.

And sometimes, color will have to come in a form other than beautiful pencils. We will see what happens!

Every day is a new challenge!!

Challenge Day Number Three

For my  Art Every Day Month Challenge today, I worked on dominoes. I was able to put quite a bit of time into it, which was very nice. How did I get time for this today? I put the rest of life in piles. And walked away. Quite an accomplishment for me. I will get to this mess later...

I walked to this messy but way more FUN area instead:

O.K., now we're talking!! I am working on creating dominoes for Christmas along with dominoes I have done just for fun. My friend and I are doing two boutiques, one in November and one in December. I have never sold altered dominoes before, so I am curious as to how people will respond to them. I also applied to Glitter and Grunge to sell online. This is a big step for me! I have wanted to do something like this for a while and have asked lots of questions about selling online. I decided with the Art Challenge, that this would be a good time to take that leap. I submitted an application yesterday, and hope to hear from them soon. Here is a look at more Christmas dominoes I have done:

My next creative activity will be to break out the new Prisma Color pencils I have and start adding color
to the dominoes that aren't collaged.

Doesn't color just make you happy??!
Have a great day!

A New Adventure

 Hey, All!
I am joining in on a new challenge. It is called "Create Every Day Month" It is hosted by Leah Piken Kolidas over at creativeeveryday.com. It is something I think will help boost the creative juices.  I love how she begins: "the rules, which are made for breaking...." makes me breathe easier right away! Her definitions of being creative are fun as well: "I mean art in the sense of anything creative, whether that be painting, drawing, knitting, sewing, cooking, decorating, writing, photography, clay, jewelry-making or whatever!"
I have found if I just begin something with a creative outlook, it leads to more creativity. For instance, we did some clean up around the house yesterday and I got my chandelier cleaned that is over the dining room table. Because I have create every day on the brain, I looked at the crystals hanging and took some pictures. I love, love glass that is sparkly and shiny!

THAT led to actually cleaning off my dining room table. (No small feat.) And making it pretty for fall.

This morning I was able to take the time to make steel-cut oats. (Brenna is still home from oral surgery.) I found a recipe to add an egg to the oatmeal from Alicia over at  Bread and Honey. I love oatmeal and this makes it even better. ( along with brown sugar and a little bit of yogurt!) I think time for oatmeal is decadent in a way.

I do have dominoes all over my art room right now, as I am getting ready to do a boutique in November and December, but haven't taken any pictures yet. (It's easier to photograph oatmeal??) That might be my biggest creation for a while every day!!
I feel as if I am all caught up, now! Take a look at Art Every Day Month by clicking on the button on the sidebar and see what you think.

What will you find creative in your day?
