Morning, friends!
I came to the realization yesterday that it was the third Monday in a row without my "non-negotiable studio time." Apparently driving to Los Angeles Int'l. Airport takes precedence. As does running around trying to find a wool coat in Southern California in January. As does spending every minute I could with my eldest before she left.
The fallout hit this Monday.
Seriously? I spent ALL DAY picking up, sorting, washing, putting away, etc., etc.
All. Day.
The good part is, I can think clearly (well. as clear as any 49 year old female can) and am committed to getting back on track with the month of soldering. Even if that said month is gone.
The other good part is that instead of showing my stuff, I get to brag on my friend, Susan DeGeneres.
You will have to come check out her blog, and her newest endeavor,
It is a wonderful journey toward building our creative selves. This is a process I am craving right now! Susan expresses herself beautifully here.
The book she refers to, The Creative Entrepreneur, by Lisa Senora Beam, is one I actually have.
This made me laugh out loud. The creative mandala Susan set to work on and is making great progress on is something I have looked at in complete confusion in the book. I haven't gotten past the first chapter because of the mandala. But with Susan, it is beginning to sink in what the purpose of the mandala is and how it can be a useful tool.
It baffles me that this mandala has me completely stymied. I mean, honestly! I can usually fake my way through a lot of things, but not this one....But with Susan, and how she breaks down each thought and process, I think I can break through the barrier and be honest with myself and learn quite a bit.
Won't you join us on this creative journey?
The other blog I would like to introduce you to is....
It's a little bit close to my heart, as it is Lauren's blog. It is all about her adventures in Italy, which, by the way is so far so good!! We have gotten to speak to her twice by phone and it's like she is next door. Did you know that Lauren now has a Greek Aunt? My sweetest friend, Manya has made contact with her and has put my heart at ease knowing she is close to my girl and is there for her.
I think that's about it.
Now I'm off to get caught up on all your posts and figure out what happened to my sweet birdie and signature at the end of my posts!!
much love
lynn
Well, Lynn, you know how the saying goes...life is what happens when we're busy making plans!! I have asked friends and family to pray for my creative time. By the time I get to it, I am usually too tired to engage my mind!! I have such grand plans! All in the Lord's time.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, gal! Off to read Laura's blog!!
Blessings and hugs,
Becky
Thanks for the links Lynn. Sorry you are missing your studio time. It's so hard, right? Good luck with all that mandala stuff, I don't even know what you're talking about, lol. Artspeak can be hard to wrap your mind around I think, but you'll get it!
ReplyDeleteI will check these out, dear heart. I laugh at finding a winter coat in California! It is so warm here today. Your first born is off on a great adventure. I know this part is not so easy but she will learn and grow so much!
ReplyDeleteI cry when I think I am going back to the cold. In will soon be wearing my big ugly black down coat every day...but I will be home.
Love and hugs,
Suz
Thanks for your sweet words about my blog. Its a journey that I'm so happy to be travelling with you by my side. It makes it so much more fun when your on the road with friends.
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask you if had heard from Lauren, but it seemed like such a dumb question. Isn't this blog world remarkable? We can keep in touch with the click of a finger and make friends halfway around the world who can give comfort and watch over our loved ones. Amazing!
Hugs to you my friend,
Susan
You and the mandala.....
ReplyDeleteMe and those "Al Franken" affirmation cards I had to make for that Vision Journaling workshop last year.
There is always something putting a stick in your spoke.
Off to visit Lauren............
I know all about that non negotiable negotiable time. Have it all the nonnegotiable negotiable time...
ReplyDeleteI have a headache now.
I just visited Lauren's blog and followed so that I can vicariously experience Italy through the eyes of the young and inspiring.
As for crafting... Let's face it, I'm still stuck in elementary decoupage land. Good grief... You crafters give me an inferiority complex. At first, I thought a mandala was some kind of crafting MOJO. And yes, I'm serious.
Hey, thanks for the links on Susan's blog, really pretty. And I love her thought process and the path that she is on...I really, need to do this too! Focus. And I'm trying to juggle too many other jobs right now, so maybe that would help my efforts to get some craft time in as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks doll, you're the best...
hugs,
c
PS...Off to look at Lauren's now..and I hope you find your bird! :)
Hi Lynn! I enjoy Susan's blog, too! She really had me thinking about our gifts this week! I'm really looking forward to following Lauren's blog, too!
ReplyDeleteSometimes life intervenes and then we get to practice flowing with it. Perhaps the when we get back to what we love, we will appreciate the specialness of it even more.
