Lavender

Don't you love the smell of lavender?
Each year, my three little bushes go crazy and fill the back yard with their fragrance.

I cut the stalks this week.

There is always WAAAY more than I think, and I get heady with the ideas of what to do with it.

Maybe I will dry it and then.....

Roll it and pat it and mark it with a B???
Nah.

I have visions of sachets...

and making them with Miss B....

A project to do together....
With a cool purpose behind it.
I'll let you know more when it's thoroughly dried.
Stay tuned!

  2. It's one of my very favorite scents! I hope you do make some sachets with it, and please do post about it if you do.

I made some lavender water for the older daughter to spritz on her sheets during finals week. I'm planning to do some for both girls this year. Unfortunately, I just use the oil. I don't have the real thing like you do!

And you started me out with a giggle this morning with "roll it and pat it and mark it with a B"

  4. Oh I love lavender. I miss mine that I had at the old house. I hope to grow some here too. Hope it's not too warm here for it.

  6. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with it! I grew some last winter, indoors in the window, and I'm going to do that again. It is so nice to just smell, in the winter, when everything outside is snowy, and brown.

  7. Oh, Miss Lynn,

I do adore lavender. Right now I am making ten sachets for Silver Bella with real lavender inside...but certainly not from my yard! We tried some for three years and no go in Minnesota!

I can't wait to see what you do. I know you will have a fun treat. I did some quick sachets in vintage hankies one year and gave them to my friends. Easy peasy!

Hot chocolate for my drink of choice again tonight. I am hooked!!!

    Love you!

  9. Mmmmm..I can almost smell the lavender as you write about it..just lovely! One of my childhood memories is of being allowed to use my mother's talcum powder on occasion..such a treat. Do let us know what you end up doing with it all..pictures, would be great, too...:)

Glad you stopped by to read my Leonard Cohen post. The song is 'Hallelujah' by k.d. lang. You might want to youtube it. The best version is the one she did here in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympic ceremonies...a stunning rendition.

    Enjoy your lavender...
