I have lamented about not putting up any fall decor this year. I was grousing about it to my friend, Linda, when I looked at her sweet front porch pictures. She pretty much nailed it on the head. I had been training for a triathlon. Oh.
I have a hard time realizing I can't do everything. Especially all at one time. So, between the triathlon, Brenna's nutty school schedule and 90 degree temps, fall decorating blew out the window.
Then it rained. And I was inspired by a blog (sigh. can't remember which one.) with some cute little pumpkins under cloches. I thought I could try that with my improvised-cloches. Sweet Vicky encouraged me to put my own twist on what I thought was an over-done project that everyone had all ready seen and "blog away." Love her for that.
So, here's fall in my house:
You will notice the sunshine in the pictures. It stopped raining.
It's 95 degrees today.
What is THAT?
I can't bear to put my sea shells away during different seasons, so they have wonderful metal leaves mixed in.
My pumpkin lady was given to me by sweet Suz last year for the Sweet and Sinister Swap.
My friend's 5 year old plunked this stuffed pumpkin in this candle holder, and I loved it!
Just a little bit of fall, but it makes me happy!
I am just thinking about leaving up my fall decorations till I decorate for Christmas.. It will be here before we know it. Does that make me lazy??? No I just love my fall decorations.
ReplyDeleteYour photos look great..
Hugs, Linda
I have not had the energy to put up fall decor so now I think I will just fast forward to Christmas!

Hi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteI decided to carve out a few minutes to visit a few of my favorites, and of course, you're always at the top of my list. My porch has four sweet little pumpkins that my sister-in-law gave me to keep the weeds in the garden company. LOL
Temps here aren't expected to be out of the 40's today and 30's tomorrow. If we could only figure out how to merge south-CA and mid-MI.
Thanks for stopping by the other day, I can't tell you how much it means to me. I've decided to take a page from a book we both love and live "bird-by-bird."
LOVE the pictures of Brenna and her horse. She gets my vote everytime. You both never fail to put a smile on my face, and lord know I need me all the smiles I can muster these days.
LOVE to you,
Susan
Hi Lynn! I love your fall touches and think you did "just right" by using some inspiration but putting your own twist on things. And, I love the seashells mixed in with the leaves! I have not seen ANYONE in blogland do that so you are truly an original! I wanted to let you know that for my highlight at this week's party I'm going to share the story of the sweet gift Brenna received from Susan. I hope that is ok with you! I couldn't think of anything more inspiring than that! :-)

I think it looks terrific. It just "fits" that you would have sea shells scattered among the leaves. They look great.
ReplyDeleteI love the pumpkin head and those stuffed ones too.
AND I noticed that great bowl with the green on it that you used. I love that. I would love that in any season.
Your home looks so lovely, thanks for sharing! I was reading on facebook today that an old friend of mine, an Ohio boy now living in LA, is lamenting that his daughter doesn't know what seasons are. Still, it's chilly here, I wouldn't mind seeing how the other half lives ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your autumnal touches! I know what you mean about hating to put away sea shells! I reluctantly put mine away when I brought out the fall stuff, but now I'm thinking maybe I'll glitter some for Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteYou sound just like me! I have a birdcage stuffed with some autumn decor and that is it! We have been doing some remodeling, I am getting ready to teach a class, we have a lot of family stuff going on, and it is just not at the top of my list this year. I love your metal leaves mixed in with your shells! Best of luck on the triathlon, what a goal! Have a great weekend!
Great autumn decoration, Lynn..the sweet little pumpkins are perfect for tucking into a cloche. And the stuffed pumpkin in the candle holder looks awesome...kids often have the best ideas, don't they?
ReplyDeleteI loved your comments about my trip pics. I can only imagine how it must have felt to wake up every day to the wonder of Monument Valley all around you. It makes me shiver just to think of it! We only had one afternoon there and I hated to leave...it was every bit as magical as I'd thought it would be. I'll definitely be posting some of those pictures soon....:)
