Mamma Said There Would Be Days Like This.

I am just going to share the last 24 hours of my life with you.
I'm not going to hold much back.
Ready?

Two weeks ago, I asked the gardener to "clean up the ledge." He said he would work on the hill. Great. I have a lot of dead-ness going on due to the heat.

Seems they left that in all it's dead glory.
But took the salvia that looked like this:

to this:

Nice.
At least he left one of the Salvia plants. Maybe he is planning to kill the second one next week.
Well. Then I noticed the pool filter had not shut off. When I went to check it, it WAS off, technically. Just still running. ??????

Fast forward to today.
I came home to this mess:

SOMEone forgot to latch the cupboard before t(he)y left this morning.

And Party Girl had a blast.

Oh, sure. She looks innocent enough. But it was the dish washer soap that gave it away. She really has an affinity for it.

And, apparently, for foil that had meatballs cooked on it.

There is a lot of foil missing.
But the day isn't finished yet.
You think I'll find foil later?
I do.

Ah, well, I thought. I'll just go use the bathroom before I clean this up.
(I told you I would tell you everything.)
It would have been nice to be able to walk down the hall to the bathroom, but the laundry fairy apparently forgot to come while I was gone.

Anyway. Bathroom.
Of course, no toilet paper. But wait!! There is some in the cupboard.

But guess what? There is a leak under the sink. In the cupboard. Where the extra toilet paper is.
I thought my sweet husband had turned off the hot water that had been leaking.
Guess not.

This quote came to mind for the day, from Anne Lamott.

"I thought such awful thoughts that I cannot even say them out loud because they would make Jesus want to drink gin straight out of the cat dish."

As for Party Girl and the tin foil caper...you know what they say, "What goes in must come out!"

  3. I don't know what the heck just happened and why my comment posted twice. Do you think your day rubbed off on me just by visiting your blog?

  4. Oh my gosh, Lynn...I just burst out laughing at that quote...oh man...that really IS a rotten 24 hours! You have a story to tell anyway!

You may want to find that Gin and get to drinkin yourself.

  6. give the gin to the dog, it might just calm her down. So much for Ace being the evil instigator(I'm sure I spelled that wrong). I think maybe...maybe...by November you may have a different perspective. Of course, I didn't mention what year...forget the gin, just open the front door and let her fly...your post is hysterical. Sorry it comes at such a cost. Gin.

  8. Please forgive a friend for laughing. I was feeling nothing but sympathy about the salvia and the pool. I even felt bad about the mess and the dog and the foil and well, you know...

But when I saw the toilet paper, I just gave up and laughed OUT loud.
A big old ha ha ha from the gut.

Now that I have composed myself, I will offer sympathy for the rest.
But I'm still grinning about the TP and wondering what you chose to use instead.

  9. This post was so funny I laughed all the way through. You really just had one of "those" days. Hope all is better today! You certainly deserve a good day.

PS I'll bet the soggy TP works almost as well as the dry!

  10. Lynn,
I don't know whether to laugh or cry! This is so funny and yet, I can imagine how frustrating. Love the Anne Lamott quote. It also reminds me of her quote about there being two prayers, "Thank you, thank you, thank you" and "Help me, help me, help me."

I think the second might be helpful.

    Big hugs,
    Suz

  11. Oh, my.

Hopefully the missing tin foil has been "found" by now......

    ;-)

Perhaps you could hang the TP out to dry in all that heat??

Trees come in handy for that.

Or did your gardener cut those down too?
