Art Every Day Month. Day 4

Bah, Humbug! Who knew creating Christmas dominoes could be so frustrating? When I think of decorations at Christmas time, I think SPARKLE! Red, silver, gold, green. More SPARKLE! (This thanks to my mother, the queen of Christmas.)  I tried the traditional Christmas colors on the dominos, and they just looked washed out, kinda pink. Pink is for Easter. So, I tried some stickles, to add bling and SPARKLE. Huh.

Didn't care for it, so I took off the stamped part and will re-sand and start over.
Then I thought, well, think outside the box. Purple is good. Looks good with gold. Huh.

I am so far from finished with these!! I guess dominoes don't naturally SPARKLE, and I will have to add that in as I go. O.K. I can live with that.
I did like the angels, and I do have a vision for the "Merry and Bright" domino.

And sometimes, color will have to come in a form other than beautiful pencils. We will see what happens!

Every day is a new challenge!!

  4. try rhinestone bling for SPARKLE, you little sparkle queen :-) in the black dots on the tree. all kinds of xmas colors, probably at michael's or your favorite scrap store. also, you can get some kind of diamond glaze like thing that has built in Sparkle, but kinda the wrong color. wonder if you added your own sparkle to diamond glaze what would happen. Isn't production FUN?? Way cool angel...all of it is great.

  6. I think these are great. Have you tried alcohol inks? I know what you mean about red turning pink. Pink and green would be a great alternate Christmas color combo. Good luck; I know they'll turn out beautifully!

  7. I love your dominoes.I am the proud owner of two!!!I think you should sell some one here, Lynn. I love pink and green at Christmas...a little turquoise for the green. The angels and joy ones are my faves.

Lynn, have you ever tried mica for sparkle? I love it. it is nice and old-fashioned.

Hope all are doing well at your house.
